Does anyone have any experience using the HCG Weight Loss plan?

I've just met with my doctor about my weight gain. Last year about this time, I went into menopause. I stopped having my period, stopped sleeping through the night, lost a lot of hair, my skin went dry, I noticed patches of brown spots appearing on my face and hands, I lost my interest in intimacy with my husband, I forgot simple things like "why did I walk into this room again?", I was irritable, and I gained about 20 pounds! It was about this time that I read a book by Suzanne Somers called "Breakthrough: Eight Steps to Wellness." She talked about using bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and in a rhythmic dosage rather than a static dosage. I talked to my doctor about it and she prescribed an estriol cream to be taken vaginally 1-2x per week as needed, and a progesterone cream to be taken for two weeks on and two weeks off. She also prescribed melatonin and 5htp to help me sleep. I'd also read about L-Arginine to help with hot flashes. Those things helped but didn't fully alleviate my symptoms so I kept doing research on menopause and it's symptoms. I found a method of dosage and delivery for bio-identical hormone replacement therapy called The Wiley Protocol and asked my doctor about it. She had JUST heard about it herself. So, we agreed to embark on the adventure of trying it to help me. So far it's worked to alleviate all of my symptoms with the exception of my WEIGHT! ARg.

So, I went through the same steps of research and found a hormone called HCG for weight loss, did my homework and learned that my own doctor prescribes it! Thus, starting tomorrow, I will be injecting myself with this hormone that is only produced by pregnant women. Ironically, two other women in my office are also starting this very weight loss plan this week. I'm just looking for others online who have had experience with this and what they have to say about it.

I think it's important to check with your doctor before doing any diet. However the HCG Diet worked for me. Check out my site to see others HCG Diet success stories and tons of free recipes and meal ideas while on the diet.

Ok instead of this battle going on can someone please help me?? I have been on hcg diet since 2/7, the VLCD since 2/9 and have lost 25 pounds. I messed up on Monday, but drank a ton of water and have abided by the protocal to the T since then. It is about 5 days before my TOM and I have just put on about a pound. I am kind of freaking out, I need to continue to see loss! Is this just water weight? What can I do to help get rid of it? Please someone help me. I know about the apple day and such but I am not sure if I should do that or if it is just water weight??? I know I messed up on Monday which stalled me on Tue, a .5 loss on wed, and now a gain....

Hi Alisha,
Don't worry! In is most likely water weight from your monthly. Have an apple day and that should take care of any excess water you have. An apple day consists of eating 6 apple in the course of one day and drinking way less water than normal (drink only when you are thirsty). You only eat the 6 apples and nothing else for one day.
The apple day is recommended during a no loss period of 3-4 days.
Just hang in there, this diet is very touchy as far as water weight (from monthlys) and cheats, but it will get back on track as long as you stay focused!
Good luck! and great job losing 25!! WOO HOO!

Thanks, I am trying to psych myself out for the apple day, but I am telling you..........for some reason i have been starving!!! Ok so I have another question...or 2 lol. Is it acceptable to eat chunk light tuna in water? I didnt see it on Dr protocal, but I also heard they only had tuna packed in oil.....and sigh tomorrow I have a lunch obligation at Red Lobster or at Applebees they havent decided yet...any idea of what I can order? Or if I should beg for one of those 2 restaurants? Thanks so much for your support, these blogs have kept me going!

Hi Alisha,
It's Jen again! I forgot to tell you, you can have one celery stalk as an extra snack during the course fo the day or half of a cucumber! They are very low to no calorie snacks and won't throw your weight, but can help cure that hunger pang in between meals! I like to slice up the celery into really small sliced and pop a few in my mouth when I get hungry.
You can always keep you melba toast or half your apple for later too. Your never really obligated to eat everything in one sitting anyways, so maybe breaking up some of your meals will help you with the snackies.
Hope this helps a bit with the hunger pangs! ;)
P.s/
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I hadn't checked my email yet :(

Hi again,
So as far as the tuna, if you can eat albacore tuna in water it would be best. It's not listed in the foods okay to eat becasue tuna is oily, but I have had seared ahi out at restaurants and not had a problem. With any pre-cooked food chicken shrimp ect, youa re suppose to weigh a little over 50 grams instead of the raw weight of 100 grams.
Usually you are safe ordering a salad just ask them to omit any bacon or cheese, croutons ect and then ask for a lemon wedge and no dressing. You can make your own vinegrette and take it with you if like which is apple cider vinegar and some stevia packets, pretty simple recipe and won't screw you up. Also, I buy the Walden farms salad dressing and have never gained using a small amount on salads. You can order it from www.netrition.com or just goole search Walden farms salad dressing.
As far as eating at red lobster you can get the lobster just no butter, so bring a bottle of I can't believe it's not butter spray and you can enjoy it with no guilt!
As far as pre-cooked meats, I buy the tyson refrigerated chicken and beef strips in the refrig section, and will make salads with them or add salsa and a bit of parmsean cheese. Salsa is a great thing to add to your chicken, meats or salad, just try to find one with no sugar added. Some may have some sugar listed from the ingredients, it's only because tomatoes have natural sugar. I make a dish using a can of petite diced tomatoes also and it's super yummy, let me know if you're interested and I will shoot it to you!
Hope this helps a little bit! ;)
