how do I know when pityriasis rosea is healing?

I was diagnosed with pityriasis rosea almost 6 weeks ago. Apparently it takes 6-8 weeks to disappear, but I keep finding new spots every time I shower, new red spots seem to pop up. The first ones I got seem to keep changing. Does anyone know what these spots are meant to look like before they just disappear?

I have had PR, I think for two weeks. My dermatologist took a biopsy to see if it was psoriasis because I have plaque psoriasis. However this is much more itchy and covers my entire body. I will try head and shoulders but I am not sure why it should work. I have been taking Claritin for the itching which works a little.

If I wasn't for this website I think I would have gone mad! My rash has lasted under 3 weeks (assuming it doesn't come back) and personally I think I owe it all to head and shoulders shampoo, sunbeds and zinc with vitamin c tablets. It was a horrible virus and I'm so thankful I found this website. Thank you all for your help!

I have had PR for 2 weeks now and am not sure what stage I am at. The raised bumps have flattened and spread slighlty, leaving red dry patches all over. Is this the usual stage progression?

Sunbeds and head and shoulders tend to make me look worse straight away but by the next day have helped ! Also has anyone else noticed a slight swelling of their lymph nodes?

Yes, that is the normal progression.

As the spots heal, they will flatten and expand and become very dry. The spots will then peel until they are gone. In my case, the spots peeled in the order they came, and this was incredibly itchy.

I don't think I noticed any lymph node swelling.

Thank you that has made me feel much better!!

I think I am quite run down which may explain the lymph nodes. This peeling stage is so itchy!

I have to say once I started washing with head and shoulders, it began clearing up and after a few days the itch had completely gone and the rash has faded to just scarring, I can even confidently take a hot bath now! So glad I found this forum!

Did you find that you looked redder immediately after using head and shoulders at first?

Wow, I. Was starting to freak out. I had been feeling crummy, tired, just yucky. I noticed this thing on my leg that looked like ringworm but it didnt respond to any antifungals. Then about a week later i started with this itchy rash on my chest, neck, tummy, back and it is still spreading. When i went to the doctor today since i also have a mild fever they tested me for measles, mumps, rubeola, and cmv. But i keep reading other testimonies and while this is not pleasant it sounds so much like pr! Honestly, im thrilled. I had an appointment with infectious disease tomorrow. I think im going to look for a dermatologist or maybe just a tanning bed instead. I already have that elderberry juice that i give to my kids so i will get on that too! Awesome.

Sambucol comes in losange form, liquid form or tablet form. Just wondering which is better. Thankyou

I've used the liquid form for years. I think it's great.
