I need an energy boost but on days that I am working on my feet for hours at a time a starbucks late can be very tempting indeed. I am only 8 weeks pregnant at this stage so my question is how much caffeine is ok?

Hi Silviapineiroo

No one is certain exactly how much caffeine is safe during pregnancy, which is why most docs say to avoid it. However, the March of Dimes organization is the place to go for information related to the possibility of birth defects, and they say on the website 200mg per day or less from ALL SOURCES. That would include chocolate, tea, coffee, etc.

Here is a link to the March of Dimes article discussing caffeine during pregnancy: http://www.marchofdimes.com/professionals/14332_1148.asp. Hope that helps. Good luck and thank you for writing.
