Hi Anon

Thanks for your question and welcome!

A white discharge is common in women, especially in the middle of their cycles (when they are ovulating). It should not smell though - if it does, you should been seen by health care professional in case you have an infection.

As far as safe times to have sex: there are none. There are safer times, but not times where you can guarantee you won't get pregnant.

An average cycle is 28 days long. An average ovulation time is around day 14. But bear in mind that some women ovulate as early as day 9 and some as late as day 20. Therefore you need to know your cycle very well, in order to guage when your safer time is. Once you know (monitoring the dates of that white discharge is a good tool), you can abstain from sex for at least 4 days before and 4 days after. So if you ovulate on Day 14, you would not have sex from Day 10 to at least Day 18. But this is no guarantee. These methods work well for some and not so well for others. Our bodies all work very differently in this sense.

Would you consider going on some form of birth control or using condoms so you don't have these fears?
