I had my period that finished last week and 2 days later I have sore breasts, back pain, heart burn, feeling tired and can smell things more .Can I still be pregnant and thought I had a period but it wasn't ? I have a 1 year old who when I carried him from finding out till I had him 7 months I bled every time I went to the loo they said my placenta was low . What do I do? Shall I take a test or wait a while? Or could it be something else?

Hi, I had sex during my period around the last days of my period, im exsperiencing alot of bloating, and slight pain. Im cramping on both side of my hips and am having lower back pain. Is there any sign of an indication of pregnancy. Last time this happened I was just constipated, but this time my hips/ovaries/tubes seem sore.

so my period ended about a week ago . it was a normal heavy 76 day flow. I had unprotected sex about two days after... just three days after unprotected sex my breast have slight pain, ive been emotional, and I've been cramping in my lower abdominal. we used the withdrawal method, so im just wondering if there's any chance I could be pregnant?

Hi Anonymous,

If you had unprotected intercourse about two days after a normal period, it was a bit too early to be ovulating and thus no risk for pregnancy.

A woman’s monthly cycle is measured from the first day of her menstrual period until the first day of her next period.

Ovulation can be calculated by starting with the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP) or by calculating 12-16 days from the next expected period.

Most women ovulate anywhere between Day 11 – Day 21 of their cycle, counting from the first day of the LMP. This is what many refer to as the “fertile time” of a woman’s cycle, because sexual intercourse during this time increases the chance of pregnancy.

Wait and if your next period is late by more than seven days, test for pregnancy. That is really the only way to know if you are pregnant.

Regards,
Maryann

This isn't necessarily true. My husband and I had unprotected sex on the last day of my period (spotting - day 7) and I ovulated 2 days later on day 9. I normally ovulated on day 18, so it is possible! We got pregnant with my son that cycle. Oops. But we're glad he's here now!

Hi, so about two or three weeks or so ago I had sex and about three days ago I realized that my nipples and breast were sore and felt a little heavier. Immediately I was worried because although I know this could mean I'm either ovulating or expecting my period I've never had these symptoms before. Not to mention I'm also having cramps, diarrhea, and I'm a little more tired than usual yet find it harder to fall asleep at night. I took a digital pregnancy test two days ago and it was negative and one just today and it was also negative. I don't know if I'm either taking the tests too early or if I'm not even pregnant at all. These symptoms are just unlike me, usually if I cramp (if at all) I get my period within that same day or the next. I will say that I stopped taking the birth control shot back in December and last month I had my "period" twice. Once at the beginning of the month and the "second" one happened the day I had intercourse. Should I try to go to the hospital and get a blood test or wait it out? Any advice?

Hello , I was wondering why do I have random pain shooting from down there. I haven't had sex since before thanksgiving. And I already had my period. What could it be?

Susan, do you ever think anyone is pregnant? As an RN, I find some of your very black and white respondes interesting. I deal with many women who had symptoms within hours of conception, even before implantation. I've also dealt with patients (as well as myself personally) who experienced breakthrough bleeding so heavy it was similar to a period. While basic medical understanding is healthy and helpful, do not discount possibilities...I've seen it all!
