Hi DanielleSimone211,
Thank you for your question and for joining EmpowHER. This is something you really should talk with your doctor about. Your doctor needs to know about all medications you are taking. If your doctor has prescribed this medication, then you may want to assess how much you need the medication vs. how concerned you are about birth defects. If one outweighs the other, then you know what to do. It does pass into breast milk, so you may want to plan on not taking it when/if breast feeding. It has been assigned pregnancy category C, which means that there is insufficient information to determine if it is harmful to take in pregnancy. If benefit outweighs risk in taking it, then you can take it, but if you can live without it, you may want to.
Here is more information about FDA drug category ratings for use in pregnancy: American Pregnancy: FDA Drug Category Ratings.
Good luck, and congratulations on your pregnancy!
