I've been on birth control for about 6 months. I missed my pill Wednesday, took two Thursday, took one Friday, had sex Friday, Missed my pill Saturday and Took two Sunday. All of the informational websites only give instructions when missing two pills in a row. How soon is the egg released after missing the second pill? What is the likelihood of an egg being released and fertilized?

Hi Jessica,

Since you didn't miss two days in a row, you should be fine although there is a chance of getting pregnant anytime you have sex even on the Pill. There is no 100% guarantee.

At this point, you would have to wait and see if you miss a period or take a pregnancy test to calm your nerves about the possibility. It is hard for anyone to positively answer your questions as every woman's body is different and acts in different ways. If you miss a pill in the future, use a back up method such as a condom.

Since you have used the pill already for six months, your body has already adjusted to it's effects and missing one pill, should not raise red flags although you should always be careful and use condoms all the time for backup methods.

I hope this helps. Can you please keep us updated when you have your period or take a pregnancy test?
