My weight!

Hello everyone, this is my very first time i enter this website, i liked the idea and signed up! and i'd love to ask some questions about my weight!
i'm sixteen years old, i don't eat much, and i really concentrate on fruits and veges, i exercise often, what really confuses me is that i'm overweight, and i keep gaining weight, this is so much annoying!
i'm not thinking about going on diet,'cause i heard that it's unhealthy for people under eighteen!
i really need your help, and please give me some advises to control my weight!

If only we knew the secret to weight loss...we'd all be at our ideal weight and maintain it! You will have to find what works for you, but there are some strategies that work well for most women:
1. Become a physically active person. It is important to exercise 3-5 times per week (30-60 minutes each time, can be throughout the day), but I have found it to be even more helpful to just be physically active whenever you have the choice. Stand instead of sit; walk instead of stand. Be outside as much as you can. When you are with friends, choose a physical activity (walk, hike, skate, bike, bowl) instead of a movie.
2. Eating fruits & vegetables are great, but equally important is to balance these nutritious foods with high fiber whole grains, nuts, seeds and protein-sources. Even more important in weight loss is to make sure the calories you are eating does not exceed the calories you are expending. Let me know if you would like more clarification on this...
3. Weight loss takes time...6-12 months to see sustainable results! If you are interested and motivated to create a healthy lifestyle (versus unhealthy rapid weight loss that is not sustainable), then you are well on your way to reaching your goal with your positive mindset.

Thank you so much for your consideration!
I'd like to inform you about my height and weight,
height:161 cm
weight:76.7 Kg
and i'd like to inform you too, that i don't exercise always, only if i'm in "the mood"!
but i do eat fruits and veggies much!
and no i don't compare myself to other girls:) i just want to manage a healthy life!
i'm kind of active, i sit in front the computer for maximum two hours.

We're glad you joined the site, and hope you find it helpful!

Can you tell us what your height and weight are?

How do you feel about your body, and what are you basing your being "overweight" on?

The most important things with eating and exercise do include "how much" and "how often" (as you mentioned), but other factors as well (intensity of exercise, balanced nutrition, variation of foods and exercise, etc)...this means what types of exercise you are doing, how you feel about your body, and how physically active you are. For instance, do you exercise for 30 minutes, then sit in front of the TV or computer for 6 hours?.

Women can eat all the "right" things, but eat too much of specific types of foods, or too little of other nutritious foods. Even eating fruits and veggies, and discounting the other foods (whole grains, proteins, healthy fats), may not be the best way to eat, as your body may be hungry and trying to store any nutrients it gets.

Lastly, I'm sure you hate hearing this, but your body is still changing, and will continue to do so into your 20s (and, well, beyond!). I wanted to make sure you aren't comparing yourself to other girls, and we can talk more about your healthy eating and exercise habits! :)
