I haven't had sex in four years since my last ex and right now I am in a relationship with a great man. We have been together for more than six months and we decided to take the next step which is intimacy. The first time I had sex with him I started bleeding, we tried having sex the second time and i started bleeding again when he was only half ways in i told him to stop. I went to the restroom afterwards and I felt a burning feeling sort of like a rash. I read online that it might be because hes tearing some skin tissue but I really don't know. I want to make him happy but It hurts too much even more than the first time i had sex lol, maybe its because of his size I don't really know. He wants to try it out tomorrow but Is it normal for a girl to bleed during intercourse?

Hi randomchic21,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. It is not normal although it may be his size that is causing the tearing. Have you tried lubricant? If you are not lubricated, this may cause bleeding.

Hope this helps.

I read somewhere that it can be my hymen that is not ruptured yet. When supposably i lost my virginity with my ex I didn't feel no pain when he came inside neither did I bleed. With my boyfriend i did bleed and it did hurt. My boyfriend thinks that my ex didn't rupture the hymen and he thinks that maybe its because of that.
