I do know that i cannot be pregnant if i got my period, however, pregnant women can still bleed each month at a specific date. is that right?
I Have a question, how would i differentiate my period blood from any other kind of bleeding (if the incident happened around my expected cycle timing), how would i know!
Other than my period, i didn't experience any kind of bleeding before.
I am 19.

Hi Anon,

Period bleeding occurs on your expected dates. Any other form of bleeding during pregnancy is not specific to a certain date-- so you would be bleeding at any time. If you had bleeding on the days that your period was supposed to come then this is your period. There really is no specific pattern than bleeding during pregnancy occurs in.

Best Wishes,

Hi Anon,

It is possible to experience cramping during vaginal bleeding in pregnancy--however, if the woman is experiencing a miscarriage the cramps would be much stronger than cramps from a period. Other reasons for bleeding include planceta previa, which is absolutely painless and placenta abruptia, which presents itself with a strong stomach pain. None of these actually present themselves with the same type of cramping that you would get with your period.

Thanks for you response and for the article link.
But, I am wondering,
(if pregnant) would a women bleed after just 4 days of having sex. Or is it too early for bleeding?
I mean could implantation bleeding happen as early as that?

Implantation bleeding is actually not bleeding at all and it occurs about one week before your period should start. The spotting can be a very light pink to brown blood but it's only spotting, not period-like bleeding. Pregnancy is a process so you would not be bleeding only 4 days after sex unless it was your period.

is implantation bleeding actually associated with severe pre-menstrual symptoms/cramping?
and how long would implantation bleeding last?

Not at all. Implantation bleeding is when a fertilized egg implants itself to the lining of the woman's uterus. It's very light spotting and as a matter of fact some women don't even notice any spotting at all. Implantation bleeding is actually just a few drops of blood and nothing more. So, if what you are experiencing is more than a few drops and looks more like a period, then it is a period.

ya, in the first two days it was more than spots It was heavy, actually needed to use pads, ya it looked like a period.
But i don't know why it became very light after that as if its ending and it is too early for my period to end? it usually lasts more than 2 days.
so your saying that implantation bleeding cannot be more than few drops meaning it doesn't even fill a pad right?
and what is the soonest after sex implantation bleeding could happen?

You are likely experiencing a period, as Rosa has explained to you. Even if it's short, it may well be a period. As she also said, implantation is a only a few specks or droplets that would not fill a pad. Implantation bleeding, if it does occur (it doesn't with many women) it's usually within about 10 days after ovulation so with 5-7 days (approximately) before your period is due.

Taking a pregnancy test will let you know for sure, otherwise we can really only speculate at this point.

Thank You Susan.
So, implantation bleeding cannot happen after 4 days after having sex?
It's been around week after sex, so I am waiting for another week to take a pregnancy test.
