i recently had a positive test when i went for a check up with my regular doctor. i made a appt. with a OBGYN and came to see i was not pregnant. is that possible to have a false positive test??

Oh, that is disturbing. I guess someone made an error in the processing of the test. I am sorry that you had to experience that.

Yes, it is possible to get a false positive result with a home pregnancy test.

 If you let the test sit for too long (after the instructions on the box tell you), the test is invalid. This may cause it to show false positive results.

Some pregnancy tests leave a faint evaporation line as the urine crosses the test. This faint very light grey evaporation line in the test area is often interpretted as a positive result.

Home tests are usually 97% accurate when all instructions are followed correctly and the results are read on time.
