Hi [email protected]

Welcome to EmpowHER.

Swelling in the ankles or feet is not always a cause for concern. Can be due to standing for long period of times or fluid retention. If they do continue or you experience other symptoms, this can be a sign of a more serious condition and should be seen by a doctor.

More serious implications for ankle swelling can occur as a result of heart failure, infections, strains, sprains, obstruction of the venous system, obesity, arthritis, electrolyte
problems, or kidney failure.

Heart disease , specifically congestive heart failure , can be a difficult to diagnose since it typically progresses slowly over time. It is a condition which affects the entire body.

There is nothing to worry about for now - we are simply giving a lot of causes.
Best,
Susan
