Hi manomani,

A weight gain of 6kg or 13lbs at 20 weeks is normal. Weight gain during pregnancy should be put on at a steady pace and increases in your second and third trimesters. Your doctor will perform ultrasounds and fundal height measurements to ensure that your little one is growing appropriately. You do not want to gain too much weight or eat unhealthy foods as you can develop gestational diabetes and then have a rather large baby. During pregnancy, many women think that they have to consume large amounts of food when you should really only be increasing your food intake by approximately 300 calories per day-- which is not much.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and stay healthy,

Rosa
