Q:

What happens if I miss one week of birth control pills? How long will it take for my body to adjust to the pill again?

Hello everyone,

I've been on Yasmin for about two years now, always took the pill on time. My question is this, I finished my period on Friday July 17th, on Sunday July 19th I was suppose to start a new pack of my active pill, however I was on vacation last week, and forgot my pills at home, and missed a whole week of my first week of active pills. When I got back, I started my first week of the pack on Sunday the 25th. I wanted to find out, will I be getting my period this coming up month, once I start taking the sugar pill? Will missing one week, and starting the new pack a week later mess up my body, and how long will it take for my body to adjust to the pill again? I'm not worried about getting pregnant, for I've been single for about two months, and not sexually active, I'm more worried about how long will it take for my body to get back on schedule with my periods and all. Thanks in advance for any inofmation you can share with me.

I lost my birth control pack when I had two weeks left in the pack. To begin my new birth control pack, should I wait to start until after I get my period or just begin a new pack when I originally would if I would have continued the previous pack?

Hi,
I was sexually active and missed 7 days of birth control. What are my chances of being pregnant? When should I test? I'm having every sign of pregnancy and know when the conception date would be. Just curious.

Hello,
On the 16th of October I started my period. I get very bad cramps and heavy bleeding and I have to go home from school. I was taking Ponstan but they were too heavy on my stomach. So the week after my period(Wednesday 22nd) I went to the doctor and he put me on the pill Microlite, but I took my first pill the next morning Thursday. Now I am worried as I only have 3 pills left out of my first packet and I'm not due my period until roughly the 16/11, so when I'm on the 7 day break I won't have my period, I'll be starting my second batch of pills when I start my period? What should I do?
And also, would your period stop sometimes like you won't get it for a week/5 days? Also I am not sexually active.

Hello,
My husband just recently returned from deployment and we were planning to wait to conceive our third child, but then he received orders to Guam and we changed our plans.
I started taking the pill on the first day of my period (Oct 4th), but stopped taking it after day 7 (Oct 11). I had some breakthrough bleeding, but nothing since.
My question is: am I likely to have ovulated on a normal schedule despite the 7 BC pills I took at the start of my cycle. Should I expect to ovulate later than normal due to the hormone drop? We are actively trying so I don't want to get my hopes up if it's not possible or unlikely. I had EWCM for 3-4 days starting around the 20th, but not sure if I ovulated. So far testing negative.
Thanks!

Hello!
I had my period on September 26th
I stopped on October 1st
I did not pick up my birth control due to having so many miscommunications with the pharmacy
I started my pack about 2 weeks late when I finally got it
And just realized this week I have missed 3 pills
I have had nausea and extreme cramping.

Will my period still come around this week?
No signs of it showing up.

Have I screwed up my cycle?

I'm on loestrin fe

Hello Anonymous,

Thank you for your question.

You may experience break through bleeding because 14 days without active pills and missing three doses really did upset the hormonal balance that regulates your menstrual cycle.

Check with your gynecologist and ask what you should do.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

Call your gynecologist's office and ask what you should do.

I would think you should have started a new pack once you finished your period. I don't understand why you are six days late in beginning the active pills.

Regards,
Maryann
