Cheri:
What inspires me to help other women go through the gastric bypass procedure is the fact that I know it works. I have faith in it. I have seen it work. I have been with women and have had experience where it has worked, and we all come out the other side a different person. Every one of us has a growth. It’s emotional. It’s physical, and it’s not always what we expected.
For me, I didn’t realize that I was going to have an issue with my body being smaller. I lost a lot of weight in a very short period of time, and I loved my fat body. I was just like, “Oh baby, I am sexy. I am hot.” I had all the attention I wanted and I didn’t like the skinny body, or to me it was skinny, you know, but I didn’t like it. I wanted my old body back, and for me, my struggle began at that point, and I had to come to terms with where I had been and where I was now.
And, it got to the point where I would look in the mirror when I was getting ready and the only thing I recognized was my big brown eyes, and I thought, “Okay, I know I am in there. I know it’s okay. I know I am going to be all right.” And so, to be able to help somebody else, to encourage them, to support them and for them to know that they are not alone is really a great thing.
