After 15 years of heel/ankle pain and countless doctors telling me just to deal with the pain, I finally found a doctor (orthopedic surgeon) who knew exactly what was causing my pain and how to fix it! By this time the pain was quite intense and not only limited my physical activities but also caused pain while sleeping just from the back of my heels touching the bed! I had to prop my legs up and leave my feet hanging off the end of a pillow.
He said due to chronic tendonitis, calcium deposits had formed in my Achilles tendon and caused several small tears. He performed surgery and ended up cutting out quite a lot of calcium fragments. It's been a year since my last surgery (I had each leg done a year apart since the recovery time was so long) and I am finally pain free for the first time in a very long time!
