share: Connecting With Other Women and Sharing Health Information
We've all been in a position where we felt like our health had changed for the better because of a casual comment or a tip from a friend. For example, a coworker may have suggested an alternative treatment for a nagging condition, a sister-in-law may have tipped you off to a supplement that has worked wonders or a friend may have recommended a weight-loss plan that worked for her and worked for you too.
And while EmpowHer has always prided itself on its ability to provide top-notch health information to our visitors, today we added a few new features to the site that we're hoping will make receiving that information as well as connecting with other women easier.
It takes a few steps and a few minutes and you'll need to select conditions that you care about first. Here's how:
-- Log in to your account (Don't have one, why not create one?)
-- Click My EmpowHer
-- You will see a green box, select "Click here to start"
-- Select your conditions on the page (Yes, there are a lot)
-- Press "Save" when done
Choosing your conditions will allow you to do two things. First, you'll automatically have video interviews, breaking news and other information delivered directly to your profile.
Secondly, you'll be able to find other women who share your interest in a particular condition. You can find those women by visiting our new connect page.
Once there, you'll want to scroll down to the "Filter the results below by Health Topic" box and choose your topic;
Once the topic comes up, hit the connect tab (about one-third of the way down the page) and you'll find a list of members. Feel free to page through the profiles and if you find you have information to share, hit the "Message Me' button to the right of the member's photo.
It's that simple.

I'm so excited about this latest connect feature! Tina, you're absolutely right that it's important to be able to communicate with other women who may be experiencing the same symptoms and/or health conditions. Being able to share information leads to a sense of validation as well as the knowledge that you're not alone. It will be great to see how EmpowHer continues to grow with this new feature.
