Summary
People shouldn't need to make drastic changes to their diet straight away because they'll give up, so I've talked about a few techniques they can use that will help them get results while eating mostly the same food.
They say you should lose weight by changing your lifestyle instead of going on a crash diet, but changing the way you eat overnight isn't easy. You can't just wake up and eat the opposite of what you've been eating for years. It's much easier if you start using little techniques to burn extra calories every day and it will allow you to make bigger changes over a longer period of time. Take a look at some of the things you can start doing today if you want to see results in a few months.
Swing a kettle bell
Kettle bells have become very popular over the last few years because there is something magical about picking up an iron ball and swinging it around. If you want to spend time doing kettle bell swings you will need to buy one, but it should last you forever and it means you won't need to pay gym fees. Just pick it up and swing it around for 20 minutes every day and the fat will fall off you. If you've never used one before you might want to take a couple of lessons first so you don't hurt yourself.
Bodyweight circuits
Don't worry if you're running low on cash because you can exercise using nothing but your bodyweight. You just need to drop down to the floor and you can perform a handful of exercises each time. Not only will this help you shift a few pounds, but you'll also look a lot better because you won't end up with as much loose skin. You can easily learn how to perform thousands of bodyweight exercises by watching YouTube and you don't need any equipment for most of them.
Veggie soup day
The easiest way to lose weight is to fast for 24hrs once per week. It means you can afford to eat normally for the rest of the week and you'll still lose weight. Going without food for a whole day is almost impossible and it's even harder if you have to run around looking after kids. You can eat vegetable soup for a day instead because it hardly contains any calories. Just cook a big pot of soup every Sunday night and it will last you until bedtime on Monday.
Delayed gratification
I can't believe how many people think they deserve to treat themselves on a constant basis. They're probably not losing any weight in the first place which means they can't afford to stuff extra food down their throat at the weekend. If you want to go for a meal with your girlfriends you should leave room in your belly before the big day arrives. That might only mean having a light lunch in the days leading up to your big dinner, but it's an easy way to stay on track with your weight loss goals.
The 50/25/25 plate
Every time you eat a meal you need to start being more careful about what goes on your plate. Vegetables should cover 50% of your plate since they hardly contain any calories. Just remember certain vegetables like potatoes don't count. 25% of your plate should contain a protein source like chicken or eggs. You are free to do whatever you want with the remaining 20%, but don't go crazy because you'll lose weight quicker if you stick to healthy foods.
It's too easy
I hope some of those little techniques jumped out at you. Don't feel like you have to use all of them because you'll see results by using one. The most important thing is that you do something, so get started straight away and you'll look much better come summer.
