Pregnancy is a time when women face major changes--life-wise, body-wise, everything-wise. And in a culture where "Baby Bump!" and "Post-Baby Body Reveal!" stories are everywhere, it can be a challenge to keep a healthy perspective. That challenge is even more intense for the millions of women who have struggled with poor body image and/or disordered eating. There a lot of us. I am one of them.
When I started thinking about becoming a parent, I also started looking for resources that would help me navigate the body image issues and eating disorder triggers of pregnancy and new motherhood. I didn't find much.
So with my co-author, I set out to write a book that would fill that void. We surveyed and interviewed more than 400 women for Does This Pregnancy Make Me Look Fat? We wanted to spark a conversation, give some practical advice and make women feel less alone. I look forward to continuing that conversation with listeners.
