StopAfib.org is pleased to unveil the Top Ten Atrial Fibrillation Articles of 2012.
There were many topics of interest this year to the atrial fibrillation patient community. As always, the top interest was atrial fibrillation stroke prevention — that included the CHADS2 and CHA2DS2-VASc scoring tools that determine the need for anticoagulants, the HAS-BLED tool for determining bleeding risk, and stories about anticoagulant medications, including warfarin (Coumadin), dabigatran (Pradaxa), and rivaroxaban (Xarelto). The two chats with Cleveland Clinic afib experts were also at the top of the list. Afib treatment was another popular topic, with top stories related to catheter ablation, hybrid ablation, mini maze, renal artery denervation, rate control, and antiarrhythmic drugs such as dronedarone (Multaq). Sleep apnea, another perennial favorite, also made the list a couple of times.
