Dr. Hilkovitz:
Prediabetes is the stage when you have obesity, a family history of diabetes, a big waistline, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure, but your blood sugar has not yet reached diabetic levels which would be over 125 fasting and I think, over 160 after a meal, but the American Diabetes Association insists on a blood sugar above 200 after meal to diagnose diabetes, and most of us disagree with that. We think it should be set lower.
