Dr. Russell:
You can either get it at your physician’s office; usually primary care physicians are very well qualified or very well equipped. They love to share that information with you. Also you can go online and there are a number of BMI calculators. Probably the best one is to go on Google and one of the sites that I like to use is from the NIH, and you simply put in your height and your weight in either the metric system or the U.S. system, and then it will calculate your BMI for you.
About Dr. Russell, M.D.:
Dr. George V. Russell, M.D., earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Denison University in 1988 and his M.D. at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1992. He subsequently completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Washington. Dr. Russell was formerly Assistant Professor in both the Orthopedic Trauma and Physician Assistant Studies at the University of South Alabama in Mobile before joining our department in October of 2000. He has authored or co-authored many published articles and presents both nationally and internationally on his specialty of orthopedic trauma.
