VIDEO: Dr. Russell - When Is A Woman Considered Obese?

June 12, 2009 - 6:31pm 205 reads 0 comments

Dr. Russell explains when a woman is considered medically obese.

Dr. Russell:
Traditionally, for a while, there’s been a consensus that a BMI of 30 or greater signifies obesity and so, for approximately the past 20 years or so, BMI of 30 or greater has indicated obesity. So, if we use that as a number, then, from the past, for say 1960 to 2000, the obesity rate in the United States has more than doubled up to about 30% where it stands now.
