Dr. Butterwick shares if botox really is safe.

Dr. Butterwick:
Botox is very, very safe. It has been around for over 20 years. We want to make sure you will get the real Botox from Allergan, the manufacturer, and there will soon be other companies making a very good product, but there is many years of safety with this product. What it does is, it temporarily tells the muscle not to move. Normally, our nerves tell our muscles to move, and the Botox blocks that pathway for a very short period of time. Now there is some expertise required to put Botox in properly. If you put a lot of Botox right above the eye, that brow is going to droop, and we have all heard about horror stories of people’s eyes dropping, but really, with some basic good training, a physician can do a very nice job with Botox, and it is very, very safe.
