Dr. Butterwick shares the proper skin care regimen for women.

Dr. Butterwick:
A good skin care regimen would start with some basic elements: a good cleansing program, a good moisturizer, some use of antioxidants for aging, and maybe a retinoid or something to keep the pores really open. So, at night you cleanse with a gentle cleanser because you do not want to use anything too harsh so you can use other products. So use a gentle cleanser, and there are some special ways that you can clean even deeper if you have an oily skin type. Then you may apply something for anti-aging such as antioxidants, a good vitamin C product, a good green tea product, something that will really help with the aging process and the pollutants in the air. Then, depending if you have dry skin, you may want to use a really good moisturizer over that. If you have oily skin, you do not actually need to use a moisturizer. It’s not the moisturizer that prevents aging; it is getting a really good skin care regimen and getting the antioxidants or other products on the skin. So, that is the basic elements at night, and we might even throw in more than one anti-aging substance such as the antioxidants with a retinoid, the antioxidants with the penta-peptide or growth factors, so we usually talk about what are some good products along those lines.
