Dr. Sorenson describes the connection between vitamin D and type 1 diabetes.

Dr. Sorenson, Ed.D.:
Yes, type 1 diabetes has a very close connection. In fact, we have a study out of Finland that showed that children who were supplemented with about 2000 International Units of vitamin D as infants had an 80 percent reduction in the chance of ever becoming a type 1 diabetic. So there’s a very close correlation to that. That’s an autoimmune disease which is a little bit different than type 2 diabetes.
