Pamela explains why she finds bio identical hormone dosing overrated.
Achieving the right dose for you with hormones, whether you do bio-identical or synthetic, and for some women synthetic is the way to go. There’s no hard and fast rule here. We just don’t have the studies on the bio-identicals yet, but the dosing, yes, it's trial and error, but you know what, it’s not that complicated.
I’ve tweaked my dose once, that’s it. In the three, possibly even four years now that I have been on the hormones, that’s not so difficult when you think of the benefit you’re getting from it. Women think there is this specific number they have to get at and if they don’t get there, there’s something wrong.
There’s a whole gray area, if you will, where it’s okay. It’s going to work for you. It’s going to relieve symptoms and it’s going to ultimately protect you from heart disease, you’re fine. So there’s, you got a lot of latitude to play with, and I would be less concerned about achieving specific numbers and having such precision about the dosing. It’s not that big a deal.
Everyone knows you only talk about sex in secret. Everyone but me that is. I’m Pamela Tames and you can hear more about my take on sex and the older woman at http://seasonedsex.com.
