Dr. Rohde:

I generally ask women not to lift anything more than about five pounds for about six weeks after the, the surgery. People do feel it. Even if you try to turn the key in the ignition within the first few weeks people generally feel it because cutting a ligament does change the anatomy of the carpal tunnel. And so it does take some getting used to.
