ask: Anxiety panic attacks, last 2 months could it be low progesterone?

Since a few months ago I have been having severe anxiety hot flushes, muscle twitches I've even had 3 panic attacks where I felt so emotionally out of control. I'm 25 and have never previously suffered from anxiety before. I'm not pregnant and am currently breastfeeding my 16 month old baby. It seems to be worse right near my period and through out and a few days later and then it can completely disappear for a few weeks and then bam. Anxiety gain. My doctor did a blood test for hormones and she said my progesterone was in normal ranges. I guess I'm just confused about if it were only anxiety or stress why it can come out and then dissipate to nothing so quickly? Any help would be so remarkable. Thanks for your time

Hi Ralphie - Severe anxiety can lead to panic attacks which can come and go, and may be triggered by a wide variety of things. You've indicated that your progesterone is normal, so I'm going to assume you'd like to find other ways to determine the cause and what can be done. It would be best to seek a referral to a psychiatrist as these doctors have the training to properly diagnose and treat all forms of anxiety and anxiety disorders. This link will provide more information to help you better understand this, and I certainly wish you all the best. Pat
