Any help for skin that gets sticky when it gets wet?

sticky skin

Three nights ago I noticed that after washing my hands they felt really sticky, almost like when you use the last paper towel on the roll and you get that glue residue on your hands. However, it wasn't the last paper towel so I figured maybe the liquid soap was really old and doing funky things so I rewashed with dish soap and again grabbed a paper towel. Once again, my hands got sticky as I dried them off. Thinking now that there was something wrong with these paper towels, I washed again and this time dried with a hand towel only to yet again find my hands sticky as they dried off. The stickiness only lasts 30-60 seconds, until the skin completely dries, but during that in-between time of soaking wet and totally dry they feel very tacky to the touch and my fingers will actually stick to each other.

The next day when I took a shower I noticed that the water was beading up on the skin on my arms. Sure enough, when I dried off afterwards I found that all of my skin is tacky to the thouch until it is completely air dried.

Today I shaved my legs and my skin felt almost like it had a layer of wax on it that kept catching the razor. The skin on my hands seems to be getting more sticky when they get wet. Water continues to bead on my skin when it gets wet. I asked my children if they can feel that my skin is sticky to the touch and they said yes.

This is affecting all of my skin now, including my face. I always put a moisturizer on my face after washing and it does not feel like my skin is absorbing it now, it just feels heavy and greasy since the lotion just sits there on top. I also tried putting lotion on my hands and it was not absorbed at all, just left my hands feeling very slimy and greasy so I wiped it off.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this or have any suggestions for what might be causing it? Thanks for any held you can give.

Has anyone been tested for MS, I think you should look into it. My mom had the waxy feeling, I got it when I was in my 20's and my 16 yr old daughter is complaining about it now. My mother had chronic progressive Multiple Sclerosis, I have symptoms but refuse to go to the doctors because they only made my mother worse with all the drugs, but now I am concerned about my daughter having symptoms so young. I also had an uncle who had it.
It is a weird feeling and I think it feels waxy and my daughter says it feels sticky. It comes and goes with stress, hypersensitivity to food, & over-exhaustion. Let me know what you find out I am interested to know

I have exactly the same thing but on my foot! It started around 3 weeks ago. It's a very small area about 1-2cm. Whenever I shower it feels very sticky and annoys me because the sock sticks to it. It only lasts about 15-20min until it dries out but it drives me crazy. I don't have it anywhere else and it didn't grow in size since it first appeared. There's a very slight discolouration when observed closely but nothing major. My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy...

I have had the same problem for over 4 years. I first notice it when traveling extensively with work. I too have been to several dermatologists who have basically laughed at me and none would do biopsies. My symptoms are primarily around my groin, thighs, and hands. I am a thin person and have no mold exposure to my knowledge. It has no other symptoms other than stickiness and some occasional tingling and itching after being wet, that includes sweating. After only a short time of sitting with fresh boxers and jeans on, I can actually feel moister on my jeans in my groin area. It is all very embarrassing, especially with intimacy. I just wish there were dermatologists out there working on this. It can't be mass hysteria. All I seem to find on the web are people to commiserate with, appreciated, but not very helpful.

I have the exact same symptoms. Groin area and back of legs sweat to the point that my boxers feel damp after an hour of sitting down. After a shower my skin feels sticky and the back of my legs turn beet red. My doctor prescibed my hydrocortosone with loprox (anti-fungal cream) it takes away the stickiness on my hands after a few uses but the groin area isn't improving. I have to use baby powder everytime I shower. It's frustrating because doctors look at me like I'm crazy. They say my showers are too hot or I have an allergy wait 2 months and come back. I don't know what to do.

I too have this problem and i`ve had it for 3 years now and it never seems to improve.I dread having to go out as i like to shower but spend most of the night feeling horribly sticky.Washing definetly makes this problem worse as does washing the dishes.I feel sticky everywhere and inside my mouth nose eyes ears everywhere. There times when i feel like it affects me internally which at times really freaks me out.I`ve lost hair all over my body because of this and doctoers so far have been pretty stumped as to whats causing this.I`m now waiting to see an endocrinologist to see if they have any ideas on this.I have also been diagnosed fibromyalgia and have had it for 10 years and never had issues like this until 3 years ago.I hate it as it feel like you have a waxy coating over your skin all over your body and nothing seems to help.I `m so glad i found posts on this as i know i`m not insane and i`m not the only one experiencing this.

I also have sticky skin. It started around two months ago and, like others, I first noticed it on my hands when I was drying them. Within a day it was over my whole body - all very sudden. I also have a bad taste and funny feeling in my mouth and wonder if it's related. My doctor doesn't know what it is, and doesn't seem to care. It's good to read these posts and maybe we can figure this out. I've read on the internet that this is a condition that sometimes occurs when taking meds for prostate cancer, which I certainly am not doing. I recently started taking a med for seizures but this isn't listed as a side effect, and my doctor says it can't be related, but I'm not so sure.

Ok, I have this condition, too. Hands are the worst, but my face and neck are bad, too. Sometimes my skin burns terribly but I've been tested for every possible allergy. My dermatologist says I'm a "dermatological mystery" - no comfort there. He knows it isn't pscyholgical because he can feel the stickiness and sometimes my eyebrows look as though I've smeared hair gel on them. He says it could be unusually thick oiliness but he doesn't know why that would be. One doctor I saw for arthritis mentioned Sjogren's syndrome, but I'm not sure why. That illness usually causes dry skin. All I know is it is an awful feeling and seems worse when I am home. It doesn't happen as much when I am at work but it does on vacations. I've read that mold problems don't remediate just because you leave your house because the spores stay on clothes and other personal items but none of my docs seem to know about that. I know there are worse things, but it's a bit depressing to think there are no answers. Keep posting!

OK so it's not our imagination. I have it too. Only my hands whenever I shower get super sticky. I just came home from cancer surgery and thought it might be related. I guess not. I was however exposed to some mold about two weeks ago and may have touched it with my hands. This is a problem, but the larger problem is professional medical personal that call themslevs doctors. They continue to ignor it because their lack of education on the topic. It's like taking your car in and your mechanic says 'never heard of that problem before, good luck'.
