BLACKING OUT

I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME 2 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, PLUS YEARS AGO. WHEN THE BLACK OUTS HAPPENED YEARS AGO I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HYPERTENSION AND GIVEN MEDS. I STILL HAVE HYPERTENSION IN ADDITION TO, HYPOTHYROIDISM, ACID REFLUX, ALL OF WHICH I TAKE MEDS FOR. THE BLACK OUTS OCCUR RIGHT BEFORE I NEED TO USE THE BATHROOM FOR A BOWEL MOVEMENT. I GET VERY SHARP STOMACH PAINS, AND THEN I BECOME LIGHTHEADED, SWEATY, A LITTLE NAUSEOUS, WEAK, MY EARS GO DEAF, AND I START TO SEE BLACK AND BLUE. THE NEXT THING I KNOW I'M PASSED OUT. I WAKE UP ON THE FLOOR. I HAVE BEEN TO THE ER THE LAST 2 TIMES AND NOTHING WAS REVEALED. I WAS TOLD SOMETIMES ITS DUE TO STRAINING DURING BOWEL MOVEMENT, BUT I FEEL ALL THE ABOVE SYMPTOS WHILE I'M TRYING TO GET TO THE TOILET. ANY IDEA WHAT MAY BE GOING ON? IT'S REALLY SCARY. THE LAST TIME I WAS IN A PUBLIC BATHROOM WITH MY 9YR OLD SON WHO GOT HELP FOR ME.

hey Anon!

i have black outs for years now, and they happen 5-10 times a year, usually when i get up fast and my blood pressure is too low.
but the kind of black out you are talking about, due to the bowel movement, i had it 3 times in my life only, as a reaction to a severe pain i was experiencing in that situation. All the times this happened to me it was exactly the same, hit the floor before i even reach the bathroom.
So basically, the reason why you black out is BECAUSE you are experiencing those sharp stomach pains and your brain kind of "switches" you off as a self-protection mechanism: you black out and you feel no pain anymore. This is one of the most common pain-management mechanisms of the brain, be it a physical or emotional pain (just try thinking of how many times people black out and faint when they receive extremely bad/shocking news, ie. a family member passes away unexpectedly).
I don't think this black out has anything to do with the medicines you are taking, as most of those you are prescribed are taken on daily basis and would cause you blackouts way more often then twice a year.

hope this was helpful!

THANKS FOR THE INPUT. I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING. IT COULD ONLY BE BECAUSE OF THE PAIN BEING SO SEVERE. I THOUGHT THIS HAS TO BE IT. I APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE.
