Q:

Does 3 days of withdrawal bleeding/menstruation mean she's not pregnant?

We had sex 2 - 3 weeks after her last menstruation and she had them irregularly. She took Nordette as ECP 18 hours after. 6 days after the dose, she bled heavily lasting for 3 days. She also had abdominal pains then and she said it was just like her period. I'm not sure exactly if it is her period or just the withdrawal bleeding.

Was that a sign that she's not pregnant?

Hi Charles,

Thank you for clarification. I really think she should contact her gynecologist, not with a concern about pregnancy but a concern about the bleeding, which stops and starts and persists.

Is 4 Pills then 12 hours later another 4 Pills necessary? I would like to know why.

Because what we did is, she drunk 4 Pills then 12hours later another 4 Pills but she vommited the 2nd dose within 1hr after drinking. So what we did after she vomitted is, we waited 5 hours then she drunk 3 pills and then 12hours later another 5 Pills.

Hello Anonymous,

As I mentioned, I am not familiar with this pill. Please ask your local pharmacist or your girlfriend's physician.

Good day! I'm Danielle, from the Philippines. Me & my girlfriend, we had unprotected sex(We had 3 rounds sex, all are withdrawal method. Every time I ejaculated outside, we washed ourselves with water and after that we rested for about 45 minutes and does it again) last Nov 28 at 2 PM in the afternoon then after 3 hours she drink 4 Trust Pills for the first dose, then 12 hours later she drink another 4 Trust Pills for the second dose but she vommited it the 5 hours after she vomnited the second dose e reset the dose and she drank another 3 Trust Pills, 3 only because the 4th got broken then 12hours later she drank 5 Trust Pills for the second dose so she could fill the Pill that got broken in her first dose also that we could catch up the 8(4+4)Pills that is instructed in the ECP. Her LMP was on last Nov 14 then we had sex Nov 28.

So my questions are:
1. Was it okay that we didn't follow the instructions 4+4? That we reset after 5 hours when she vommited and change it with first dose 3 pills then 12 hours later plus 5 pills.

2. What is her chances of getting pregnant?

3. On the 5+3 that we done, did it lessen the effectivity of the ECP?

4. It's 6days now, but she still has no side effects or withdrawal bleeding, what does this mean?

I'm feeling uneasy now. That's all I want to ask, hope you could answer me ASAP. Thank you!

Hello Danielle,

I am not familiar with Trust. It is an emergency contraceptive pill that appears to be available in the Philippines. Your specific questions 1 and 3 should be directed to a local pharmacist or your girlfriend's gynecologist.

According to the website, PopularManila, "Dosage in taking Trust pill:
Take 2 pills within 120 hours after unprotected sex and take 2 more pills 12 hours later.

If Trust works the same way emergency contraceptives available in the U.S. does, if she doesn't have any vaginal bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, she should take a home pregnancy test.

Regards,
Maryann

Trust Pill is same as Nordette. Trust Pill has 125mcg of Levonorgestrel.

So does it mean that if a person takes an ECP and does not get any withdrawal bleeding, it means the ecp did not work?

Hello Anonymous,

Thank you for that information. Again, wait three weeks from when the pill was taken. No bleeding within three weeks could mean the pill did not work. Only a positive pregnancy test result will confirm a pregnancy.
