I'm an emotional eater how can I stop? I really don't want to eat when I'm stressed, depressed etc. but can't seem to stop myself. How can I change this habit?

Dear Anon-- First of all let me congratulate you for being in tune with your own body and mind so much that you are aware of your actions. Emotional overeating is eating food to distract yourself from emotions and many times, people who fall into this are unaware that they are doing so.

Overeaters Anonymous online will help you find a group in your area to which you can go to for some help and support. https://www.oa.org/
I have seen these meetings in action and can tell you that the one that I observed was so motivating and inspirational. There were about 40-50 people at this one (believe me, you are NOT alone) and they were pretty much like a huge family ready and willing to support and motivate each other. I was a visitor but I still had to introduce myself and they made me feel so welcomed, it was almost as if I was already a part of them.

Please let us know if you find a location on their site and how your first meeting goes!
