To prevent yeast post hysterectomy, cut out most sugar from the diet and use a disposable (few ounces) of vinegar/water douche found in most large drug stores.

well my doctor told me at my follow up visits that my body had to much acid thats why i had a different odor, he gave me this medicine, to use like you do with a yeast infection medicine, i used it and it seemed to help but it has been a year since then, will i have to do that the rest of my life? or is there anything i can do at home to change this?

Since the bladder is surgically "pushed off" the anterior vagina during the injury of hysterectomy , there may be urine seepage through the vesicouterine pouch. This may cause odor.

Women with sexual organs in tact secret hundreds of enzymes from the vagina and cervix when sexually aroused, or as two comments above, produces a "scent". These enzymes are a natural lubricant to receive the penis during sexual intercourse, as the slang expression goes, "wet". This is part of nature's way to receive the penis (and thus, help transport the sperm to the uterus if pregnancy is desired). A human female's reproductive system is the most sophisticated in the animal kingdom and is a miracle of nature. After hysterectomy, these enzymes are no longer present, nor the sweet scent of a woman's vagina. Nothing is the same. Everything changes for the worse for most women, although some deny it because they are probably ashamed to admit it and/or are stoic. The sweet smell of an aroused vagina is no longer present after hysterectomy.

I disagree and I find your response deoressing. I have had a hysterectomy at 32 due to injury from Essure. It had to be done. But I feel better and healthier than I have in years. I have no bad snell and def no problem getting "wet". I seriously doubt that my boyfriend (same one since before hysterectomy and after) would be voluntarily jumping down there with his face if my vag was as broke off as you claim. Ppl like you just make other women feel bad for things that they cannot help or take back. You should be ashamed.

Amen on your comment, I have read that there is a gland that is removed during the process, that had something to do with you subconsciously choosing a mate when this is removed you no longer produce the aphrodisiac pheromones that drive most men crazy. I researched this in depth because I noticed something different instantly when she was wheeled out into the recovery room. I did not imagine these things, I was so looking forward to period free sexual relations with my wife. I am not a shallow person and I would never reveal this to my wife because I love her dearly and would never want to hurt her in any shape or form. But I wish doctors would warn Ladies of this life changing event and all of the repercussions that take place. The smell and taste of her vagina also changed, the scent that drew me and drove me crazy is not there but I pretend just the same and offer to go down just as often as before. In my heart I fear for ladies that are already on shaky grounds with there marriages. Please make sure that a hysterectomy is your only option. God bless

Are you serious? Your marriage is affected by the smell and taste of your wife's vagina! I feel for your poor wife. I'm sure when she was going through such a hard time the first thing she was thinking about when opting for surgery was how her poor husband would feel if her vagina smelled so different! Get a grip and love your wife regardless. How shallow!
