1. Diet to maintain my blood pressure naturally. All these years my blood pressure used to be 110/70 or 120/70 till May 2011. I am not under any medication. Today when I checked my blood pressure it was 120/90 and I got very concerned about it. Does breathing exercises if done wrongly affect blood pressure and pain in the chest cavity ? 2. Please also recommend some exercises for my age to maintain bone health and good health in general. Thanks.

Hi Anon,

I think I may have answered another one of your questions a few hours ago. We ask that you please keep all of your related questions under the same post.

Because of your bone question from earlier--we cannot suggest exercises without first knowing if you may have arthritis or another condition which may limit the exercises that you can do-- please refer to your doctor for this. Also, if you are feeling pain in the chest cavity this is something that should be addressed to your doctor as soon as possible as it may be indicative of a greater problem.

As far as your blood pressure goes, 120/90 isn't high, more like borderline hypertension and can be altered depending on how you take your bp.

Cuff size is important, if it is too tight, then it is too small, if too loose then it is too large-- it should be about 80% the circumference of your upper arm with only 20% overlapping.
Sit with your back supported and your elbow at about the level of your heart with your arm supported. Your legs should not be dangling. It's better if you rest for several minutes in that position before the measurement. Don't talk during the measurement. Stress and anxiety can also elevate your blood pressure.
The DASH diet is a great way to lower or maintain a normal BP: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dash-diet/HI00047

Please make sure you schedule an appointment with your doctor and keep us posted.
