Q:

I recently had a patient with cytolytic vaginosis.

She's had it for 4 years and had been misdiagnosed many times as candida. She is in a lot of pain and no remedy that she has tried so far has helped her. Any suggestions?

Hi Anon,

Sorry to hear that about your patient, has she tried a sitz bath? There is one particular one that many women claim has worked for them-- here it is:
She'll need a wide mouth basin and baking soda....

Fill your sitz bath or container with about two inches of water (any temperature) and mix in 2-4 tablespoons of baking soda. Sit in the sitz bath or tub for 15 minutes twice a day. Do this two or three times in the first week.

Then do it once or twice a week to keep the cytolytic vaginosis away.

As a pleasurable maintenance method for those who live near the ocean, try bathing every day in the sea water. With a pH of 8, sea water is a good antidote for the acidity of CV.

Hope this helps!
