hi, i seen one of your answers and would like to ask you a question my self.... i took trivora 28 for 4 days, had sex before, during and after takin them... unprotected sex that is... i stopped takin them cause they were makin me sick to my stomach... but now 6 days after i have stopped taking them i am having a brownish discharge.. what could it be.. shoud i take a hpt or not worry about it. im 19 and smoke about 1 pack a day and if it could be pregnancy i need to stop smokin now! please reply

I forgot to look at the directions for my birth control(loestrin 24) and I missed 2 pills so I just took 3 pills today, the directions say I'm supposed to take 2 pills today and 2 tomorrow. Even though I took 3 today does that mean I still have to take 2 tomorrow? I'm at college and haven't had sex since the end of august and probably won't have sex again until the beginning of october. Basically I'm asking if I have to take 2 pills tomorrow if I took 3 today-does it matter?

Hi, Anon, and thanks for your question. The Loestrin website says this about missing two pills:
"If you miss two "active" pills in a row in week three, or if you miss three pills in a row during any of the first 3 weeks, throw out the rest of the pack and start a new one the same day if you are a Day 1 starter. If you are a Sunday starter, keep taking a pill every day until Sunday. On Sunday, throw out the rest of the pack and start a new one that day."
Are you a Sunday starter or a daily starter?
And what week of pills are you in?

Hi I'm Kay. And I also missed two days of birth control (ortho tri cylcen lo). I missed Friday & Saturday of the first week. Sunday I took two pills. And Monday (today) I had unprotected sex. I have been on bc for nine months. I know there's a chance of pregnancy but I wanna know If it's really high. Also I had sex b4 I took my pills for Monday, if that makes a dufference

If you've been taking pills for a while, then you may not actually be ovulating, just like you don't actually menstruate (your "period", when you are taking hormonal contraceptives, is from the withdrawal of the hormones. When you are not taking birth control, and have a period, then the bleeding is from the surge of hormones, and is a result of ovulation).
Birth control pills work in many ways, one of those is to suppress ovulation. If an egg is released, then the birth control pills work to make the uterus less inhabitable.
