Hi Anon

Thanks for your question and welcome!

How old are you? when you start getting your periods, sometimes it can take a few years for a cycle to regulate itself so age may be a factor here, especially if you are under the age of 18.

Unfortunately some women do have irregular periods for life, just like some women always have acne or brittle hair or a sensitive stomach. Birth control pills are the usual treatment for that and it tends to work quite well.

However, down the line when you want to get pregnant (or are trying to avoid pregnancy) things can be tricky. You need to get off the pill to get pregnant but your cycle will again be irregular and this makes it harder. Not that there is any real "safe" time to avoid pregnancy, but with an irregular cycle, there is no safe time at all.

Does this information help you, Anon?
