Plan B side effect or pregnancy?

Hello.
Three days after my period ended, I had sex with my boyfriend. I wasn't ovulating. We used a condom, but it broke. We went and got the plan B pill right away, and I had taken the first pill less than an hour after it happened. I didn't feel sick while taking it like I was warned I might, and thought everything was fine. Now, 5 days later, I am experiencing some light spotting which is a dark brownish with a little light pink. My period isn't due for about 2 weeks. Is this implantation bleeding or just a side effect from the plan b pill? Please help, I am so scared!

Hello, I had sex with my partner around 4 days ago, and took the morning after pill around 3 hours after. Today when i went to the toilet, i noticed around 2 pink/red dots on my underwear, around 2cm long each, and there was a slight pink when i wiped. However it has since stopped since this afternoon. Could this be a side effect of the morning after pill or could it be a sign of the early stages of pregnancy?

hello, i have a similar situation. I started my period on the 26th of december and my boyfriend and me were messing around on thw 3rd day of my period (on the 29th, and turns out it's my last day of period, my usual period lasts for 3-5 days). He didn't ejaculate but i found out on the internet that there might be some pre-*** that got into my vagina (we weren't sure if our genitals came in contact or not BUT we are SURE that there is no penetration). So to take precautions, i took the emergency contraceptive pill (the brand i used is postinor 2) within 24 hours, around 22 hours after 'that'. I didn't get any side effects except of burping/farting a lot. But after 5 days after i took the pill, there's a brown discharge from my vagina. I'm so scared, could this be implantation bleeding? or is this just a side effect of the pill? i'm so mot ready, somebody pls help!

Hi there. I'm feeling kind of scared and wanted some insight, if possible. I had my period on Dec 10 and it lasted its usual 5-6 days. My partner and I had protected sex 5-6 times starting on Dec 22 but were afraid the condom may have been expired. To ease our minds, I took Plan B the day after, less than 24 hours after intercourse. We proceeded to have sex several more times that week, all protected, except for when he slipped in once without protection on but we did not engage in full on unprotected sex. No condoms seem to have broken. Still, I'm having spotting that is brownish in color as of January 1st and it's been 8 days since I took Plan B. If it affects anything, I also take a regular anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication and I am over the recommended effectiveness weight for Plan B, but took it anyway. I have had no cramping or other ill effects, except some breast tenderness and a few headaches, which were all listed as other side effects of Plan B, but could also be due to pregnancy... I just really need some reassurance on whether or not this spotting is due to Plan B or due to implantation.

Hello Anonymous,

Implantation bleeding is pink or brown spotting that occurs about six to 12 days following conception. It lasts about two to three days, never increases to a flow, and goes away on its own.

Some women do experience spotting after taking Plan B.

From what you have shared, the spotting is most likely the result of taking the pill.

If your next monthly period is late by more than one week, or you do not get a period at all, then test for pregnancy.

Maryann

I had sex day 9 of my cycle Dec 1 and he pulled out. I still took the plan b pill with little side effect. I had pms, my normal mmonthly fever blister, etc. Period was due Dec 19 but I started Dec 16. It was very light , more than spotting but not a full on flow. It lasted 2.5 days. I had cramping as usual and noticed I had passed a few clots. I'd feel a lot more secure of this had been a normal period. I've read the plan b can cause changes in cycle. Can you offer insight?

Hello Anonymous,

Plan B can cause changes in the menstrual cycle. The next period could start earlier or later than expected. Flow might be lighter or heavier than normal. The changes should last for only one monthly cycle.

Hi, I had unprotected sex the day after my period ended so day 8 of my cycle. My boyfriend made me take the plan b pill which is honestly god awful. After of course feeling like death for a few days I thought the worst was over but SURPRISE I start bleeding on day 17 of my cycle (17 days early. I have a very long cycle). And as if that's not enough it's accompanied by the worst cramps known to woman. So it's the second day of this bleeding but it's extremely light and looks like it won't get heavier. It's very faint pink no red or brown. Is this my period or just light bleeding or implantation bleeding? My periods are normally very heavy so this is weird to me. Am I gonna get another period on time too? Thank you!

Hello Anonymous,

The bleeding and cramping are the result of taking Plan B, which you should never have taken. It was unnecessary and if anything, upset the normal balance of hormones that regulate your menstrual cycle.

Consequently, your next period may start on time, or earlier or later than normal. Flow might be lighter or heavier than normal. These are two changes in the menstrual cycle caused by an ECP.

The delay or early start is usually not more than five days. If you have further concerns, please speak with your gynecologist. You appear to have really gotten hit with the side effects.

Maryann

hi, i had unprotected sex on 24th October, and i took a plan B within a few hours. I got my period within a week after taking the pill and it was like a normal period. After that i had only protected sex but once my husband realised that he had worn the condom wrong and flipped it and wore it. i had to ge my period on 2nd December but it has been delayed and from past two days im experiencing some bleeding which is not like my normal period. I can some red blood once in a while and it has been more than 20 days since we had sex. is this implantation bleeding or a side effect of plan B?

Hello Anonymous,

If this bleeding does not increase to a flow, remains only spotting and goes away after three days, please take a pregnancy test. For the most accurate result, test in the morning. Use the urine when you first wake up and use the bathroom.

Maryann
