Seafood makes my vagina smell

So this might seem like a weird problem but ever since I can remember when I eat seafood such as fish, scallions, shrimp, etc. It cause my vagina to have a fishy smell. Its always the next day after I eat the seafood and only lasts for that one day, then its back to its normal, odorless smell. Their is no change in discharge, its not thicker or abnormally colored, there is no burning or itching or any other symptoms. Is this normal? Could this be some weird allergic reaction? Thanks!

I'm 43. I have been a vegetarian for almost 6 years. Recently, due to health issues, it became sadly clear that I was going to have to start eating some kind of non plant based protein. So I compromised with seafood. Tuna at first. Since then I have had cod a few times and salmon once along with crab bisque that same night. Oh and shrimp twice. I had noticed that there was a distinct fish smell that I had never had in my years of bit eating animals. It's got my freaked out because I have been told that I taste amazing and my boyfriend raves about it constantly. I contributed it to the lack of animal in my diet. My boyfriend has been away for months and will be back in about 7 weeks. I don't want to greet him with that smell!!! I wondered if it was just me or from eating seafood now. Or maybe I was being over sensitive (I have super human smelling abilities unfortunately) or subconsciously looking for a reason to not eat it anymore. I'm ok with it if it's natural and only lasts a short time. I guess I won't be eating seafood the week before he comes home.

I first noticed the fishy smell when ever I would eat fish sandwiches from McDonald’s. I thought it was because it was a cheap fish I even looked up what type of fish it was. Now I notice when I eat shrimp or crab legs that the odor is there as well, it always appears the next morning and only last a day. I also noticed that the next day I guess when I’m processing the remainder of the fish that my urine is warm. I love seafood and hate the idea that I have to deal with this. I hope the smell is not coming out of my pores as well and I don’t notice it! I do try to limit eating fish to when I’m not having contact with people. I’m glad this forum was here because I asked my doctor about it and she looked at me like I was crazy and when I would mention it to my friends they would just shrug their shoulders.

I've had this problem for so long before I discovered a cure, I found that cranberry pills work but the cranberry pills with cranberry powder work better and faster than the solid cranberry pills. Also, I noticed drinking too much coffee or eating too much sugar will also give my lady parts that unpleasant fishy odor.

Yes! I get this and taking cranberry extract (triple strength) a half hour or so before helps tremendously.

I had this for so long. It turns out it was from eating eggs. I no longer eat eggs or chicken and it’s completly gone. I did tons of research because it disgusted me. It’s complicated but Eggs feed bad bacteria in your body and cause an imbalance. Basically egg whites are what they use to grow viruses and bacteria in labs and for vaccines. The same thing happens in our bodies. I now notice if I eat an egg I get a mild fishy odor from just the egg. But I can now eat loads of any kind of seafood with no issue at all.

This thread is so informative, funny and awesome! Like many others have said, I'm glad it's not just me and glad for possible remedies. I assume they would work for any odor due to consuming strong spices? I have this same issue if I eat middle eastern type foods too.

I am 28 and have experienced this for the past 2 years. I have been using these order suppositories and the smell is gone within a day. I had ayce crab legs last night and today I was so embarrassed to get up and go to the restroom while out with friends. I will be waiting seafood again next weekend while visiting Virginia beach so I will be sure to use the suppositories again. I will also try lemon juice and cranberry. I am so glad u found other women who experience similar symptoms.
