Joanne recalls her inspiration for losing nearly 200 pounds.

Joanne:
There were several things. It was, I wanted to be in front of the camera in TV news, not behind the scenes all the time and doing all the little menial tasks, which were important.

I wanted to make a difference and so I thought, “Well no one is going to put someone who is 340 pounds in front of a camera to tell news, it’s just not, it’s distracting. It’s not a fit.” That was in my mind going on, the way society views you.

But, I thought, “I have to change for my health.” That was the number one reason. I needed the change for my health and I needed to seek answers, which was what led me to finding out that I had a pituitary tumor, which was contributing to my large, excess weight gain.
