VIDEO - HERSTORY: Joanne Shares How She Dealt With Weight-Related Embarrassment

Joanne describes how she dealt with feeling embarrassed about weighing 340 pounds.

Joanne:
I wouldn’t, it wasn’t so much embarrassment. It was more frustration. I would definitely have to say frustration, and that was because I was always chunky, like maybe, I’d say, hovering around the 200-pound range, but never 340 pounds. So, I wanted answers and I always want answers so I thought, “Well, I don’t eat enough the way this much,” or I may be somewhat sedentary. I was looking over night to the time at a television news station, but I really, there’s got to be a missing part of the puzzle that’s causing this.

So, for me it was more frustration in trying to figure out how can I get to be, have a vibrant life again, how can I dance and do all those different things that I love to do.
