VIDEO - HERSTORY: Shelly Shares If She Tells New People In Her Life She Has Diabetes

December 2, 2008 - 11:26am 361 reads 0 comments

Shelly shares if she tells the new people in her life she is a type 1 diabetic.

Shelly:
I’d say, I, usually they see my pump, I don’t usually bring it up right away, but if it’s someone that I am around enough to where they are going to be seeing my pump when I am moving or walking or…I just say, "Yeah, I am diabetic. I have been for 18 years." And I have never had anybody respond negatively. So usually it’s, people respond with stories of their family or they don’t know anything about it, and I get to explain to them what it is, and I don’t try to tell people who aren’t interested in knowing, but I don’t hide it either.
