Today I'm writing the first in a series of posts to tell you about an exciting project! I was selected along with five other bloggers to take the BodyMedia FITness Challenge. That means that for the next six weeks I'll be wearing a CORE armband 23 hours a day, seven days a week.I'll blog about my experiences with it on my website (theboldblend.com) and here at EmpowHER each Tuesday.
BodyMedia FIT automatically tracks the calories burned during your daily activities — from pumping iron to using an iron — and monitors the quality of your sleep, an important factor in weight loss. Add in the easy-to-use food log and you have the information you need to improve your weight loss.
The 3 part system includes:
- An Armband that automatically captures data
- An optional Display device or free downloadable mobile apps that give you up-to-the-minute readings throughout the day
- An online Activity Manager* that analyzes raw data, allows you to log food and presents info in an easy-to-understand way (*subscription required)
My personal expectation during the BodyMedia FITness Challenge is to lose ten pounds while increasing my physical strength and cardiovascular endurance. I'm close to my "100 pounds lost" milestone and would love to achieve it during this challenge. I've been wearing the CORE armband for ten days now and have already lost three pounds! This experience is a real game changer for me. I now have a clear picture of how much I eat and how much I move. I also know more about the intensity of my workouts and how many steps I take throughout the day. I'm encouraged daily to increase my activity and make careful food choices. In addition, I enjoy setting new "personal best" records (such as minutes of vigorous activity and hours of quality sleep). It's like I'm my own video game! Over the next few weeks, I look forward to sharing various screenshots highlighting different things about my daily activity, food consumption, and sleep efficiency.
I'll update you each Tuesday on my weekly progress! In addition, I'll post a couple of mini updates throughout the week on The Bold Blend Facebook page.
I encourage you to take the BodyMedia FITness challenge with me! You can purchase an armband through EmpowHer. You can learn the truth about the lifestyle choices you make throughout the day and how they affect your health. I've already learned so much. I'm very excited to see what the next few weeks will bring!

Wow, what a fantastic job you have done already. I started using the BodyMedia Fit in the new year and lost 13.1 pounds so far. My first goal is to lost 25 pounds by April. I love how it tells you everything that is going on with your body and how it burns. I found that I have been starving my body which is why I hit a plateau when I hit the 40 pound loss mark last year. I thought I was doing good. But now, I'm eating 4-5 times a day and it seems to be kicking things in gear. I look forward to following your progress. I'm so glad I bought the armband. It's fantastic.
