Of all ages, Women get misdiagnosis in the medical realm every day.
For the last 5 yrs; I've been tossed so much into cracks of the medical system. That even though I am still young, that docs of speciality out there have said to me directly "I am too young to ever experience any type of "HEART-STROKE related symptoms", Ignore them, and go on with your life. So I listened to those docs out there (OSU docs). I have too many health conditions that they missed, didn't treat them, and I'm on 4 meds for BP, NO meds for Diabetes, received Blood Transfusion and IRON IV INFUSION most recently for the Anemia that is chronic. Why should any aged Woman get this type of BAD medical treatment ? Please let me know if I've helped someone else out there. I can use some redirection to help me make better medical decisions for myself. "Thank You and GOD BLESS !"

Hi Rosa RN ! For the OSA; I have a CPAP machine that provides positive air flow to keep my windpipe flaps open while Im asleep. Some of my Mild heart conditions are heredity. The High BP developed in 2002. Being too young; I listened to that cardiologist, and I've been Ignoring certain symptoms (Chest Discomfort, SOB). After Cleveland Clinic visit; they want me to come back in Oct or Nov 2011 for further elevations and testing.
August 12, 2011 - 6:05pmMy most health concerns NOW are:
PE's History and DVT-Limb-found 2010.
MILD Mitral Valve Prolapse w/Mild Regritation found 2010.
And my Chronic Anemia has been causing ongoing symptoms for almost yr and half. Meds were adjusted, some added, eating better diet, and began exercising program with my sister.

Hi Anon,
Sorry to hear that you have been misdiagnosed time and again because doctor's thought you were too young. Were you finally diagnosed correctly? We hope to hear that you are doing better!

Message For Rosa RN: (Your Concern is Appreciated)
August 11, 2011 - 10:23pmI went to Cleveland Clinic in Ohio to find real answers.
One specialist I saw stated: NO ONE is too young for any type of heart conditions. My Obstructive Sleep Apnea wasn't discovered until 2005. Past yrs from teenager to adult, the Apnea I have has over stressed my heart that is causing more/ worsen Heart Conditions. Med adjustments have been made, I'm on Lovenox shots to prevent future clots/PEs. I made lifestyle changes slowly, and monitoring my blood sugars and other vitals for any changes. I tolerate PAIN, Ignore IT, and work on what I can control. What more can I do ? What should I do for my future, for my family ? Thank You so much Rosa Rn. My email is [Personal email removed by Moderator]. We can chat over emails to each other If you want. GOD BLESS !

Hi Anon,
Great to hear from you again. I have remove your email for privacy purposes :)
For OSA, here are a few other lifestyle changes that you can make if they apply to you and if you haven't done so already:
Lose weight.
Drink alcohol moderately, if at all, and don't drink several hours before bedtime.
Quit smoking.
Use a nasal decongestant.
Don't sleep on your back.
Other therapies can be found here in more detail:

Best Wishes,
