The uretha is the small tube that empties urine from the bladder. It can become infected, irritated or inflammed by various bacteria or viruses leading to urethritis. You can be at risk for urethritis if you take certain medications, use contraceptives, have a vaginal yeast infection, or have had a sexually transmitted disease.
