Dr. Lyle:

Here at McKee Medical Center we have the ability to do regular routine cholesterol profile, which is the basic numbers that most folks are aware of and are interested in, such as the total cholesterol, triglycerides, your good cholesterol or HDL, and your bad cholesterol, the LDL.

We also calculate a ratio, but in my personal opinion that is not something that I necessarily focus my attention on when treating a cholesterol patient. Why? Because I think that if you address the individual components of the problem, you will improve your ratio, regardless of what your ratio initially is.

Also here at McKee we have the ability to do further testing to isolate the specific components of your cholesterol problem as well as look at several genetic variables, which may have an impact on how we treat your cholesterol and what diet and exercise recommendations we may make for you.
