Dr. Shoshana Bennett (Dr. Shosh) introduces herself. She is the author of Postpartum Depression For Dummies and survivor of Postpartum Depression. Dr. Bennett is a licensed psychologist who founded Postpartum Assistance for Mothers in 1987 after her second undiagnosed postpartum illness. Dr. Bennett is the Immediate Past President of Postpartum Support International and a past president of California’s state organization Postpartum Health Alliance.

Dr. Shosh:

I am Dr. Shoshana Bennett. I am a clinical psychologist and author of Postpartum Depression for Dummies and I am also a survivor of two life-threatening bouts of postpartum depression. It took two and a half years before my body came back to normal. I did not receive the help that I needed, and it is my passion and my mission to educate mental health professionals and medical professionals and the public to minimize suffering, even prevent unnecessary suffering. So they will not need to experience what my family and I did for many years.
