Gluten-free and reversing hypothyroidism!
SHARED by Theta on June 17, 2008 - 8:49am
Hey - just thought I would throw this out there for anyone who is interested and has Hashi's
I was diagnosed with Hashi's in 11/06 and put on Armour (I feel great on Armour and would never ever switch to synthetic synthroid)...anyways, 6 months ago I went 100% wheat/gluten free diet and my antibodies are almost in normal level - I have actually been able to REVERSE hypothyroidism!! There is a huge connection between Hashi's and wheat/gluten - would also suggest to people who feel like crap on all of these posts to switch to ARMOUR
Antithyroglobulin ab in 11/07 were 587
Antithyroglobuin ab in 6/08 now are 111
ref range (0-40 normal)
Anti TPO ab in 11/07 were 33
Anti TP ab in 6/08 are now 21
ref range (0-34 normal)

Thanks for the post. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism but no further investigation of Hashimoto's or Grave's. A nutritionist put me on a gluten free diet based on blood type and other symptoms and most of my "symptoms" cleared up - but we couldn't prove if it was the GF diet or the synthroid. Now with your info I am going to do some further investigation! Thank you.
Hi,
I have hashi's and just started a GF diet. (and I hate it :(. )
Can I ask if you were able to reduce you dose of Armour as your antibodies decreased?
