Sonya Zepeda shares three tips to follow when going through a recent break-up.

Sonya Zepeda:
A lot of times ladies will come to me and ask me questions about what they should do to sort of get over a breakup, recover, feel better, and kind of make it through, so there’s a lot of suggestions that I have but my top three things would probably be number one, do not combine alcohol with electronic devices. Put everything on lock down; go out with your ladies, have a cocktail, but whatever you do, don’t bring your cell phone with you.

When you go home at night have your computer on lock down. Don’t go home and send 50 emails, as I mentioned in my book, don’t be that girl who leaves 27 messages and then is calling leaving multiple messages apologizing for the 27 messages because you’re just going to pretty much regret it in the morning. So I think that’s probably my biggest thing.

And number two – have a sponsor. A lot of times it’s really great if you can, I mean it doesn’t happen often, but if you have somebody who is going through it at the same time with you, so I call that a sponsor. So it’s nice to have somebody who is there who you can call when you are feeling down or if you feel like you want to send that text message, that email or do something of that nature you can call them and they can kind of talk you out of it.

The other thing that I would suggest is journal. A lot of times I like to journal everything that I am going through and then that way I can sort of go back and reflect and it kind of reminds me of the craziness of the time so I can look at my own behaviors and try not to repeat the pattern later or as well, to remind myself this is why I got out of the relationship because I think a lot of times later on you question, “Did I make a mistake? Did I make the right choice?” And that sort of helps you remember why you made the choices that you did.
